*~The~Wonderful~World~Of~Me~*May 17 Well......study leave is well underway and i'm quite pleased with the amount of revision i have managed to get done. I've re-read both blood brothers and to kill a mockingbird AND I've reviewed the whole of RS (all 5 units)! Anyway this blog is going out to everyone at Brimsham - i'm going to miss you all sooooooooooooooo much!!! I'm sure we will all stay in touch (I hope!!!) but that doesn't mean i won't miss you when i desert you all and go off to KLB ( I know, I know, I'm a TRAITOR but its what i want to do and nobody is going to stop me!) January 19 KLBYesterday i went to KLB for a taster day. It was really fun and i made several new friends, people i didn't know even existed until yesterday! It was a day for taster A level lessons in the subjects you were thinking of taking; i took English Lit, Psychology, History and French. English was really good, the teacher was nice and i enjooyed the task we were set. Psychology sounds a really interesting subject and i hope that the option blocks will allow me to take it! The History teacher was a bit weird andn old, he kept forgetting what he was saying half way through sentences and stuff but he did say there were 4 history teachers at the school and we would have 2, so i may not end up with him anyway. Being a languages college they were all slightly ahead of me in French, but i did understand everything they were saying so i'm sure i will have no trouble, Miss Hill has already said she will help me!
In the final lesson of the day i had a tour around the school and then i just chatted with the others that came from other schools for the day. The people were so friendly there and i really liked the atmosphere, i think if i get in i will definitely go there!
See ya January 08 I'M GONG TO AMERICA!!!I'm going to America for just over 2 weeks in July to visit my bestest mate in the whole wide world Jess. We spoke on the phone last night and we still have to sort out the details (flights and stuff) but i'm going, our mums have both agreed that i can go. I can't wait because i haven't seen her for about 2 1/2 years. The only downside is the flight, you can't fly direct so im probablygoing to have to take a 13 hour flight to Seattle and then a 1 hour flight down to Portland. I am slightly nervous as it will be the first time i go on an aeroplane and i am travelling on my own but i'm sure i will be fine. As Bex says at least i'm not blonde like i'm her, she'd probably get on the wrong plane and end up in Australia or something! I am so excited its like 7 months away and it hasn't even been booked yetbut i couldn't sleep last night due to excitement. However i do have an apology to make: i'm so sorry that i will miss your birthday Ben but i promise i will make it up to you, perhaps we could go to the cinema or something before i go, my treat of course! I've been looking Portland up on the internet and it looks like a great place to go! Bye for now folks! December 04 Tiredness!!!OMG i'm so tired - what is wrong with me? I only got up about an hour ago and already i want to go back to bed! I guess thats what beiing ill does to you! I hate it already! LOL
Ok so i've had a cold for about a month now :( it is so horrible and now my sniffles have been joined by a hacking cough oh the joy! Two trips to the doctors later and i am on about 20 million (slight exaggeration) different tablets! First trip: chest infection given anti-biotics, steroids and a new inhaler. Then i fall down the ladder to my cabin bed (OMG i'm so clumsy!) another trip to the doctrs and i've bruised my ribs! I am the walking wounded at the minute and i'm getting pretty sick of it! My main concern is that i should have been doing mock exams last week and i struggled to even get out of bed. On Thursday i forced myself to go in for my RS exam i did about half of it and then i just couldn't go on, i just didn't have the energy! Now i'm probably going to have to do all the exams i missed on my own because my teachers are mean like that! I better start preparing for the remaining exams now! Wish me luck!
P.S Thanks to everyone that has left comments recently you have really responded well to my grumbles about the lack of comments! :) November 19 Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireI went to see the new Harry Potter film last night. It was brill! I will write a short review but as a special treat for those of you that haven't seen it yet (what are you playing at? - GO AND WATCH IT!) i will not go into too much detail about the actual plot:
Review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by Rebecca Vowles
After queueing for what felt like hours (having already bought our tickets in advance) we finally got to go in! The screen was packed out but luckily we managed to find seats where we could all sit together in the middle, not those horrible seats where you have to crane your neck up to see the screen , although by the time the film was to start even those seats were full!
I felt that the beginning of the film was very rushed, i appreciate how hard it was to condense a book of over 600 pages until a film that lasts under 3 hours but i felt it could have flowed a bit better it just went from one scene to the next - The Riddle's house BANG we are at the Burrow BANG we are at the Quidditch world cup BANG we are at Hogwarts and the entrants for the Tri-Wizard tournament. After that it seemed to run smoothly and i was impressed at how well it stuck to the book with only a few slight changes.
The film as a whole was very good although slightly darker than the other 3 perhaps not as suitable for younger children as the others were! November 14 This one's for Han!Hey peeps i haven't written a blog for ages and i am dedacating this one to Han who pointed the fact out to me! I don't really have much to say! I had an average weekend (slightly dull to be honest) i did all my homework on saturday and then yesterday i started revising for my year 11 mocks which start on the 30th November - I've got so much to revise perhaps i should have started earlier. The highlight of my weekend was saturday night i went to see Han and Bexs' trampolining display in aid of children in need, it was really good and most importantly they raised a lot of money for a good cause. The best bit was at the end when we were just talking and everyone who wanted to got to have a go on the trampolines.
Today has been boring - but what more can you expect from a day of school? First up was science and i can't even remember what we were learning about.........obviously not very interesting..................o yea i remember now it was the carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle. Dull or what!?!?!?! Second was german and i swear our teacher was practically in tears, or group just does not understand her at all because she doesn't real explain things clearly enough. After break we had english, it was really boring because we were just doing a practice exam question. We have started revising for our exams in the summer already i don't understand why because most people will have forgotten it all anyway! After lunch was yet another lesson of science but with a different teacher, that lesson was less boring than the 1 this morning because it is easy to get the teacher off the subject! Last lesson was maths which was OK because for once i actually understood what we were doing!
Better go now as i have to do more revision for the mocks and for my science resit! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx October 21 6th formI went to the 6th form open evening at my school last night. It was very interesting to discover what was involved in each subject at a higher level. My problem is that i want to do 5 but the head of 6th form says that i can only do 4 because it would be too hard to do 5, i disagree because i know people that have done 5 and coped fine! My RS teacher also thinks i am more than capable of doing 5 so now i don't know what to do. I am going to check out some of the other schools in the area and see what they will offer.
Subjects i want to do:
My other problem is that i also want to do Psychology but i can't because it is in the same column as French and i am probably going to need French to get into the course i want to do at University (depending on the course i finally decide to follow but if i don't pick French and then decide i want to do the course which requires it, i am a bit stuck. Is there anyone out there taking or who has taken5 AS levels, let me know how you're coping/coped with them, i need to gather evidence that it is possible! October 17 Feeling better - well sort ofI am feeling better - well sort of anyhow, at least i haven't been sick today. Now i just have a splitting headache and i am too hot even though the window is wide open and it is mid October!
Anyway i have had a very boring day - day time t.v is absolute rubbish and i couldn't be bothered with my dvd collection, so i mainly slept, i couldn't even read because i was finding it hard to concentrate on anything! Isn't it amazing that even when you get a day off school (which you find boring) when you are ill you still find yourself thinking that you should be there.
Enough of the feeling sorry for myself, Ben called round after school, he just seemed majorly annoyed so i asked what was up and he told me that he told our deputy head teacher to "f*** off", i wasn't surprised as he really doesn't get on with her but still BENJAMIN that is not the right attitude is it? I will be back at school tomorrow and i will make sure that you do not do that again, you could get yourself into big trouble. ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME BENJAMIN FREDERICK KEAR?
October 15 Don't come too close - It might be contagious!I feel really rotten i have been up half the night and i feel really sick
Enough of that i am going to have a little rant about about comments again. My page views have almost reached 1000 and i have less than 10 comments - Do the maths there should be more comments! Please leave a comment, if you leave the address of your site i will return the favour! October 09 YesterdayWell as many of you who read my blogs regularly will have realised, yesterday was my birthday MP3 player - this is my main present from my mum and dad thanks you two i am listening to it right now. Money - £110 you people that i know out there have been really generous this year. Vouchers - £35 i think (how much was the boots voucher worth ben?) Jewellery - 2 very nice necklaces, one all the way from Gibraltar, thanks Claire and Dave i really do love it. Clothes - what is a birthday without being given at least one item of clothing? Including a very nice fluffy scarf from han - that will be very nice on the cold winter days that are sure to come soon. FCUK make up bag - this was a real surprise thanks once again to my mum and dad. Estee Lauder lipgloss - one word, LUSH. Candle - thanks bex it is really nice, it is in pride of place in my bedroom. Pens - several with my name on, one saying happy birthday (thanks for not letting her choose the old git one han) and finally a rather nice Parker fountain pen with some spare ink cartridges. Beads - i like making my own jewellery and these will come in really useful , thanks Auntie Katrina. Jigsaw puzzle - this is one of those impossible ones, a lot of the pieces look the same, but it isn't just one with baked beans or smarties this is of the simpsons - one of the best cartoons ever in my opinion. With a little help so far i have managed to do the wholeof the outside, go me! ( well OK quite a lot of help) Books - these were in German, the girl i stayed with when i went on the german exchange with school sent me these to help me improve my German - thanks Carina, they are great and i will translate them into English when i have the time. Stuffing (the type you eat) - this is kind of a private joke but any of you out there that are in 11B at Brimsham Green are sure to understand this! Balloons - pink with birthday girl written on them ( why did you want to take one home ben?). They are currently tied up outside so i will have to go and take them down later. Badges - one big and one small, saying happy 16th birthday, sorry to disappoint everyone out there but i only wore the small one when we went out. Keyring - such a sweet little dolphin. Cards - loads of them, i know they don't really count as presents but i got some really good ones this year, shop bought, home made or specially personalised they were all really nice. Thanks to mum and dad, ben, charlotte and zoe who made them especially for me and to Claire and Dave who gave me a lovely personalised me to you card. A special thanks to my Grandad that grand -daughter card was really nice. I think that was it but if i discover anything else i will add thyem on at a later date. Once again thanks to everyone out there that gave me presents and also those that helped to make my birthday extra special. Now to my day: The Morning: Firstly i was awake at just after 5 as well as the excitement i hadn't fully recovered from the bug that is going round at the moment ( i still fell a bit rough but i tried to put it out of my mind yesterday). I was allowed to open at about 6, as is traditional for birthdays in my house this was in my mum and dads room. After opening my presents the first thing i did was to go into our study where my computer is and rip all my CDs into MP3 format and put them onto my flashy brand new MP3 player, my parents were dying to tell me what they had got me as my dad had got one for himself and was rather concerned that i might find it. As in another birthday tradition in our house we had a fully cooked English breakfast. After breakfast i went into Yate to pay in some of my birthday money, mainly the cheques. The afternoon: People invited: Ben, Bex and Han. Where we went: shopping in Bristol. Well when everybody was ready at about 2:30 we went into Bristol and hit the shops. I spent some of my birthday money and also some of the vouchers. What i bought: 3 books, Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson and Tissues and Issues - Charlotte Church (both of which have already been ripped to MP3 and put on my new player). I want to buy some more CDs with my money has anyone out there got any recommendations? We mooched around the shops and went for a coffee at Costa's and then it wastime to head off for the meal. The evening: We went for a very nice meal at an upmarket micro-brewery called Zero Degrees - for any of you that live in Bristol and want to check it out it is up by Trenchard street car park near the Colston Hall. We had a very nice meal, most of us had pizza and then fruit salad for pudding - unbeknown to us at the time there was brandy in it which was a surprise especially the fact that wehn we booked they said that there was to be no alcohol. It was quite intimidating at the time because the waiters were talking about us as "kids" i was outraged at this because after all i am 16 now and nearly an adult - i mean i bought a lottery ticket yesterday and they didn't even ID me. After the meal we all went back to my house for birthday cake. We ended up watching some rather embarassing home videos of my birthday parties when i was 4 and 5. It was the perfect end to the perfect day. Ben, Bex and Han ended up going home about 10:30 as i was not going to have a late night, i got up at 5:00 this morning to watch the Japanese grand prix live. I had a really fab birthday and there are only a couple a things that would have made it even better. Charlotte i undersatnd that train fares are really expensive so i know you couldn't come but it would have been great if you could - looking forward to seeing you in half-term we can celebrate again then - two parties what more could a girl want? Finally Jess i really wish you could have been here yesterday especially when we were watching the home videos you are in both of them and it was kind of sad to watch them - i really do miss you but i know that it was a physical impossibility for you to be here yesterday living on the other side of the world and all. I hope you have a really great birthday yourself in a couple of weeks and want to let you know that i am still intending to come and visit you next year - i can't wait and i know that you can't either! We can party it up then, a double celebration for all the birthdays and christmas' that we have missed! Work experience starts tomorrow, i am a little bit aprehensive but i am also looking forward to it and not just because we get a week off school! Anyway i better go write my thank you letters and do some homework (which i refused to do yesterday, it's the principal it was my birthday after all, time to enjoy myself not do homework) as i am going to the circus later as the final celebration for my birthday. See ya! October 02 FinishedI have almost finished that mountain of homework that i told you about on Friday, i just have to draw some diagrams and a graph for science, it has taken me just as long as i thought it would, if not longer. I am so pleased with myself because it means i can finally relax.
While doing my coursework/homework i have been listening to my local radio station GWR, i would like to send a big shout out to them for providing me with cool music to listen to while working, it has kept me sane i can not spend any time over an hour doing homework without listening to music, it drives me nuts, it just seems unnaturally quiet. Providing coverage of the £100,000 in 100 minutes in London and the Bristol Half Marathon in one weekend GWR is definitely the #1 local radio station of all time. Visit the website at http://gwrfmbristol.musicradio.com/
Well enough of the rambling i better get and draw those diagrams, so that when they pile another mountain of homework on us tomorrow i don't have that hanging over my head as well. I can tell you something for sure you won't catch me doing any homework next weekend on my birthday!
6 DAYS UNTIL MY 16TH BIRTHDAY!!!
September 23 Laid-Back DayToday has been such a doss of a day, first up was double english and we watched a video for the whole two hours, although we did have to make notes, which i did pretty badly as i still can't write with my right hand. Then i had RS, yet another video, GHOST. This afternoon i had IT, which is easy anyway and it is typing so i can do that with my left hand! Last lesson of the day was Science and because i couldn't write my teacher said he would make a copy of the notes for me (thanks Mr.D), so i just had to sit there and listen, oh that is so taxing on the brain, NOT!
I have decided to teach myself to write left handed in case i ever hurt my right arm again (especially near my exams). This means i could soon be ambidextrous (not sure of the spelling!). That would be so cool. Has anyone else taught themselves to write with their non-writing hand? Any tips guys? Thanks to Ben who is going to help me by also learning to write with his non-writing hand.
Tasks for the weekend:
15 DAYS UNTIL MY 16TH BIRTHDAY!!! September 19 MOOD:ANNOYEDI AM SO ANNOYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON SATURDAY I TOLD U ABOUT THE ASSEMBLY I HAD TO DO - WELL THEY ONLY WENT AND CANCELLED IT - AFTER ME SPENDING ABOUT TWO HOURS PREPARING IT YESTERDAY!!!!!!!
Enough of that i suppose i was kind of relieved that i didn't have to stand up and talk in front of a bunch of yeaar sevens but its the principle, i spent my free time preparing that presentation and to have it cancelled really did bug me.
What have i done with my day:
Today really has sucked but i suppose that means things can only get better. We now have some little baby fish in our tank they are so sweet - three orange ones and three grey ones. I was just talking to Ben on MSN and after much deliberation we have decided on names, we got quite political about it so out of respect to any one that may find them offensive i won't mention names. If anyone out there wants to know and are sure that they would not get offended, leave a comment and i will visit your blog site and tell you. CLUE: Think America and Presidents Oh the fun of my day going to school and naming fish but at least it is only 19 DAYS UNTIL MY 16TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Don't forget to leave a comment! September 11 Terrorist Attack I would like everyone to take a moment to remember those thousands of people that died in the terrorist attack on the world trade center 4 years ago today.........................R.I.P
27 days until my birthday!
